Self Reflection [ASSIGNMENT 1 -Animation Studio]

Through my first assignment in this module, I was not expecting to create a blog but through this, it kept me working as I can see what progress my classmates are up to and currently typing this up I can see that I’m somewhere in the middle but I do realise I’m slightly behind in starting my animation in my group and my friends in this course. I also find doing the blog post alright since we don’t have to be formal and mention everything we do but use images, I should probably mention more about my own personal feelings and thoughts  in each weekly’s class which I’ll keep in mind in future posts. To make this reflection post easier I was provided questions which I’ll just answer underneath them.

What worked well? & Why?

Everything I did by myself worked really well, it was just learning from the lectures, doing some more personal research then taking notes and doing some exercises or studies. I didn’t have to push myself into getting any of them completed before this deadline, I’m currently now just focusing on the animating part for the next assignment. Since I don’t have the animation completed at this stage, I can’t really talk much about that but I do look forward in getting it completed and combined.

What did not work well & Why?

So far not many things aren’t going well for myself in this module, personally, my time management of trying to balance out Uni, Work and just free time isn’t the best. I can sometimes become over reactive then stress out thinking that I don’t have enough time for certain things planned. This could be easily fixed if I keep a time table and probably just setting up some hours to keep my head in completing certain parts of assignment.

What did I learn about creative team work?

From my personal experience, I learnt about appreciating everyone’s effort and work shared with group.  This helps push the team forward and allow us as a group to move forward and get inspired to have the motivation to do the work , sadly a minor amount of people just don’t provide any work. From changing group 3 times, there’s always a few people in the group that are more quiet so just asking them the question helps get them involved in building up ideas and make them more comfortable to speak up.

If I were to start the module again what would I do differently and why?

I’m quite happy with what I’ve done so far, there isn’t really a whole lot to point out or talk about apart from time management as mentioned before. I should probably just get myself a whiteboard then slap down some time to get some type of schedule going so I can get less stressed.

What do I need to do more/less of to improve my animation practice?

I believe I need to do more personal exercises and less research, it appears that I research a whole lot of things but sometimes I just don’t apply them to the actual work cause I rarely do the physical study after listening or reading. I should also try not giving myself something easy to begin with before doing something more complicated as it can put me off in completing something when I’m sitting down at my desk.
