What is a style tile?
A style tile is used in the designing world as a way to showcase ideas and pieces of design when you are looking to create visual aspects of a website. Style tiles consist of fonts, colours, buttons, icons and images.
I began creating my style tile to show my experimentation of the typefaces and pairing that I believe would have worked well as a component towards the overall design for this project. To create my style tile I looked into how to design a style tile for a website.
Creating the style tile worked as a moodboard for me as I was able to draft all my ideas into one structure and have it to look back on when considering specific areas for the design aspect of this project. Having the range of options at hand really made the process behind creating the design for this art direction and to further develop my ideas much easier as I already had the main pieces of the designs at hand thanks to the style tile.
I started my process off by searching for some inspirational style tiles to get more of an understanding of what I can use to showcase my resources. I wanted to try and create my Style Tile represent a newspaper article just to give it a fun way to demonstrate my ideas.
Once I had some inspiration I moved onto sketching so ideas on how to structure and layout the content and elements of my designs that I would want to include in my style tile, trying to stick to the Newspaper style.
My Style Tile:
This was my finalised style tile that I created using Adobe Illustrator. Within this style tile I have include my brand in both black and white typeface, the finalised header typeface (Krungthep) in a range of sizes, the finalised body text (courier new) in a range of weights, my colour palette, the textured background of paper demonstrating the newspaper texture, navigation hover state, adjective of key words that will be used through out and some possible effect ideas.

To conclude having the finalised style tile created allowed me to have a tool in my visual design process to showcase to the art direction that I was going into. It also plays a big part in making the process of my design for the website much easier as I have all the finalised details within the style tile that would be required for all the needed elements.
