IXD 301 Data Organization

We had a task set to organize data from the periodic table and find relationships. To begin this task I had to take data in this format

H Hydrogen 1 Diatomic Nonmetal 1 s 1.008 1766

and discover what each meant first of all in order to arrange them on a spreadsheet. I already knew what part of the data was the name and symbol aswell as atomic mass, next I found the date of discovery most obvious but I had trouble with “1 s” after a little research I found that the letter stood for what’s known as an orbital block. The number I found belonged to the chemical group, with my categories defined I was then able to arrange the data on a spreadsheet.

Atomic Mass.

Atomic Number

Chemical Group

Date of Discovery

Orbital Group

The orbital group and the category group are always the same throughout the entire periodic table.
