Animating Secondary Action in 3D

This week I wasn’t able to attend class for mental health reasons, despite this I still made sure to get any classwork done.

We downloaded the Ball Rig with a tail and were tasked to have it jump. For this I set up a really simple set, with a plane for the ground and a tree with a branch, I then adjusted the camera to how I wanted and adjusted the focal length and added some depth of focus. The first thing I did was block out my keys.

Then I went ahead and added in my breakdowns and in-betweens, adjusting the timing as well as adding in some squash and stretch.

Finally I did one last adjustment pass and added in the Tails secondary Action, making sure it had drag and remembering how tails should move from my research I did last semester. There is definitely work to be done in the timing and movement in this, I think some of my actions failed to move in arcs so it looks quite jumpy and disjointed.

Something I also wanted to show was how I animated very focussed on the view of my camera, since I had my camera set up first with the exact view I wanted I animated to what looked best for this. This is fine for practices but is something I should be aware of for working on my short film, in case we decide to adjust the camera or add movement later and the animation needs to be redone.
