I wanted to build more on my understanding of how to use colour.
I went back to the line drawing we were given for this purpose and want to create four different tones in the same scene, and below in order is my take on a deserted, despairing, fury and a mystical landscape. I focussed on how to use desaturation, analogous colour schemes and thought about where and what the lighting would be like for the scene and I really like how these all came out. I really wanted to push myself in trying to use rich, dark colours as upon reflection of my art I struggled to have a good contrast and so I made sure to use these and practice.
With these gaining me some much needed practice and some confidence in colour usage, I went to experiment more with applying colour to my value thumbnail from last week.
This first recolour I did was to make it more spooky, using darker colours and an analogous colour scheme (similar to my despair landscape) I also added some fog to tie it all together and I really like the atmosphere it has.
The second recolour I did I wanted to use a a complementary colour scheme so I used the adobe colour wheel to pick a red and green that I based my colour scheme on. I like that this brings a more experimental look and has more of a separation to the landscape that brings a focus on the landscape and not necessarily just the atmosphere. To finish it off I added some green fog to the foreground to bring more depth and some eeriness to the frame.
I really like both of these recolours compared to my original one, I feel a bit more comfortable with using colour after practicing with these thumbnails.
