IXD 101- Class Summary 1: Design Principles

In class we were introduced to the principles of design starting off with the golden ratio of design. This gave us an introduction into the basics of design as we looked for examples in the real world, from nature of the golden ratio. Using what I had learned I decided to redsign my personal manifesto using the a website called ‘Type Scale’, which allowed me to use the 1.618 golden ratio style to adjust the sizing of my text.

After this we learned about the Fibonacci principles, and using this number sequence we created a new 3×3 grid using the point, line, plane method we had learned in last weeks class. We also used the principles to help us create thumbnails using plane, experimenting with size, colour and shaping.
