As I am doing the different parts for my animation, I decided that I would upload some parts individually before everything is put together. Below are some finished parts of my animation. My full animation will also be added once it is finished.
Part 3:
This part, so far, took me the longest to make. It took me almost 12 hours to finish but I’m happy with how it turned out. I feel that the perspective of the street, after getting some advice, looks better here than in the practice version I had previously done. I also feel like the non-binary character looks better here with their slight redesign, they look a little more colourful then before.
Part 4:
I really like how this part turned out. It took me about 6 hours and 35 minutes to make. I used references for the hands and I think they turned out pretty well. I also think the colour change on the trans guys hand goes pretty smoothly too which I’m pretty happy with as well.
Part 6:
This part took me roughly 8 hours to create and I’m happy with how well the flag movement turned out. I ended up making my own reference for this part with the help of my dad. Although, when making the reference, I hadn’t realised that my dad has a different body type than the character in this scene and I had also used his body as reference to get the stance right. This is why the body shape changes between the previous scene and this scene. The hand/arm in front looks sort of bigger than it should due to me probably being too close when taking the burst photos for the reference. Nonetheless, I think this part turned out well.
Full Animation:
I really like how the animation looks all together, I think each part feeds into each other fairly well. I initially had some trouble getting Adobe After Effects to work but I eventually managed to and got everything together pretty quickly once it decided to cooperate. I’m pretty happy with how it all turned out even if I’m nowhere near the 30 second mark. In total, the overall animation took me about 58 hours and 16 minutes to animate.
Reflection:
I think I managed my time a lot better making this animation than I did with the previous 15 second animation I had made previously in the year for this course and I’m proud of myself for that. I’m also proud of myself for managing to stick to my personal timetable as well and managed to get a whole scene done per day without burning myself out. I’ll admit I struggled at times with working out how the anatomy should look so it doesn’t look off but I managed to find good references to help with that thankfully. I challenged myself with some perspectives I’m not used to drawing in this animation but I think each one paid off and looks well once they were finished. I’m really happy with how the end animation turned out and I enjoyed making it for the most part.
