For our tenth week of contextual research, we were asked to do some research into the topic of audience. According to Your Dictionary, audience means “An opportunity to be heard or to express one’s views” or “A group of persons assembled to hear and see a speaker, a play, a concert, etc” (1)

In terms of the industry, audience involvement is usually seen with beta and alpha tests of upcoming games. Beta and alpha testers are usually members of public and have sometimes paid to beta or alpha test the game. They play though the game before its released and give feedback to the creators of it so that the creators can correct any mistakes or glitches within the game so that the game can run as it should and smoothly upon the release date. Beta and alpha testers can be a vital part of game development as they might notice mistakes or glitches that the game developers might have overlooked by accident. Its like having a second pair of eyes look over your work to get a fresh perspective on it.

In conclusion, audience involvement/engagement can be an important part of developing a game or even animation as it allows the creator to get a fresh perspective on their work and allows them to be able to correct any mistakes or glitches that they might have missed that someone else noticed.
