Animation Studio – Week 4 Homework, Colour

For our homework for our fourth week of class, we were given two separate exercises to do with colour. The first exercise was to take one of our previous thumbnails and bring colour to it using one of the following colour schemes; monochromatic, analogous, complementary or triadic. The second exercise was to take lineart we were given and colour it with two particular moods in mind for the image to convey.

Exercise 1:

For the first exercise, I chose the sea island thumbnail to add colour too. I decided to use a blue monochromatic colour scheme for it as I thought those colours would suit it well. The end result looks just as good as I hoped it would.

Exercise 2:

For the second exercise, I initially struggled with the best way to go about completing it but, after talking about it and getting some advice from friends, I managed to figure out a good way to do so. For the left one, I was aiming for a sad mood while with the right one I was aiming for a more happy/hopeful mood. I think, in the end, both pieces turned out well and more or less convey the moods I was aiming for.
