I think I was the most successful at etching out of all of the different forms of printing. I found that with my style of work that I prefer I was able to achieve that best with etching. As the actual printing process is similar to dry point i believe that as i have had previous experience with that it came to me much more naturally. Etching was also my favourite process. I found the whole process from start to finish very interesting and I enjoyed how different your print can look depending on how long you leave your plate in the acid or if you apply an aquatint. I also loved how different your prints can look through different techniques such as Chine-collĂ© or using different coloured inks. I found screen printing really interesting as well. It was all very new to me so i was interested in the different materials you can use to create your desired mark. I loved how I was able to create work that still had a loose and painterly style to it. I think that with screen printing I found it difficult to maintain a consistent tone and thickness of paint with each page. I also found it difficult to keep my registration perfect for both etching and screen printing therefore i think that i will need to practice in order to improve that in the future. I’d love to further experiment with both processes but I’d mainly like to focus on etching as i’d love to see what could be done with a bigger plate and a little more experience.
