Emma Stibbon is a print-maker who focuses on landscapes and areas going through a transition or a transformation. She has a passion for nature and exploring human activities in her work. We can see a wide range of scenes such as buildings, landscapes and volcanoes. She often works alongside scientists and geologists when doing her research for a piece before she finally takes everything to her studio where she translates her research into large scale drawings and prints. This print is from Stibbons series of prints centred around cities in transitions, mainly Berlin. We can see Stibbons amazing work of different tones and how her work can almost have a photographic look to them. Her use of bright tones contrasting with the very deep, dark, shadow tones in this piece really highlights each detail of the piece and shows us the story of they building and allows us to envision the transition of this building. I love Stibbons use of tone and how effect her pieces are to create a story through such high contrast tones.
