Liz Myhill is a Scottish artist who centres much of her work on the world around her. Her work explores a multitude of subjects, however, everything she creates is based on her own life. She often begins most pieces with in depth research of her subject such as where it is, the culture of the area or how something was created. She then takes her work to the workshop and turns them into paintings or prints. She has travelled all over the world to places such as India, Cuba and different areas of the USA. This influence and difference of cultures is shown in a lot of her prints. Much of her prints based on her travels include bright and vibrant colours to highlight the life and beauty of the culture in the area that she is focusing on at the time. Another big interest of hers is coastal areas. She has many prints showing the beauty of the coast line. However, in this print we can see the detail of the water that she is focusing on. She creates a sense of movement as we imagine someone plunging deep underwater and the bubbles that rise to the surface in response.
