Norman Ackroyd is an etching print-maker based in England. His work is focused on landscapes of places he has been too and seen. He has always been fascinated by landscapes and the beauty of nature therefore it was very natural for him to go into that field. He has said that during his time at art collage, the pop art movement was the main form of work going around, however he was never able to find interest in that style of work, so stuck with his love of landscapes. The majority of his prints are made using A2 plates and he prefers to brush the acid onto the place, rather than dip his plate into it. When creating an aquatint, he prefers the more traditional method of using resin and finely grinding it to lay on his plates. He has said that his favourite part of etching is how it cant be rushed and there are lots of moments where all you can do is wait. This gives him moments to think to himself and work out what he is doing and working on. He has said that his prints are not a direct image of the landscape he is inspired by. He sees them as slightly abstract when it comes to them being realistic.
