Kaye Donachie is a Scottish oil painter which is most known for her blue toned palette that she uses for her portraits. Most portraits focus around female artists and activists. Her subjects are all known in their own right for work in their personal life such as their poetry or novels, however, Donachie uses her work to further immortalise them for history. Donachie has studied in both the University of Central England and then later at the Royal College of Art in London. Her collections can be found all over such as The British Council in London and The Fonds Régional D’Art Contemporain in Paris.the cool toned palette that Donachie uses brings a cold and sombre atmosphere over her work that mixes with the softness of her brush work and brings a delicate feel to her subjects. We gather a different personality for each portrait and see a part of the subject through the painting without at first knowing who they are. We are encouraged to look further into the female subjects and see who they are and what drew Donachie to them in the first place.
