David Shrigley
I love Shrigley’s playful and free style of drawing. Some of his work is for comedy purposes while others have more political and deeper meanings while also maintaining his simple and unique art style. Each of Shrigley’s drawings is completely different from the last and rarely carry any similarities other than the art style. With his lack of theme he is free to explore anything that comes to mind. I’ve used Shrigley’s minimal line drawing style while working on ideas for my collages and printing plates.
Isabel de Bohun Lockyer
Lockyer is a printer maker who focuses on landscapes. Using mainly lino and water based inks for her printing, her work is extremely bold, exploring both black and white as well as using colour. Her work is recognisable for its use of bold line work and high contrast. When using colour she uses fresh and bold colours that perfectly express her works unique style. I would like to use the bold and simple lines from Lockyers work in my printing and research.
