Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction that incorporates retrofuturistic technology and aesthetics inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. Those who have never heard of steampunk may find it confusing. Why does Victorian-era science fiction hold such a fascination? Why did one world become its own genre? No matter how you define it, Steampunk is becoming increasingly popular, with numerous films, video games, fashion items, and books.

Basically, steampunk is science fiction that imagines advanced steam technology during an alternate industrial revolution or with the characteristics of that period. There is usually a Western society in steampunk worlds, usually Victorian England, belle époque France, or sometimes the Wild West. The “look” of Visual Steampunk is inspired by industrial aesthetics and formal 19th-century Western fashions incorporating brass, cogs, clocks, and, of course, steam.

Over the course of this semester myself and the rest of the art direction team have been collaborating over discord chats to fill in more areas to get a clear understanding of what we want these robots to look like along with the time of animations that would best fit each model. Along with weekly group chats the game design team had created a miro board where we where able to upload ideas and concepts throughout the duration of the project just so if anything was forgotten or if there was members of the team who where unsure about anything all of the details would be on the miro board as it would get updates regularly .
