WEEK  13 – Final Animation

Our final week of this semester, Week 13, was mostly about finishing our parts of the group animation.

Over the weekend, I had completed my animation line art and sent it into my group for evaluation. I was told that it mostly worked really well but I could add some frames to the end and lengthen some pauses. They also thought my character movements and expressions were really effective!

I then focused on colouring my animation and editing any mistakes I had made. To colour my characters, and not have them in stark contrast with the background, I looked at comic illustrator and comic artist Carey Pietsch, who works on The Adventure Zone Comic Series. I really liked her use of colours for the characters as well as their expressions and wanted to reference this in my animation.

Final Animation –

By Thursday, I had completely finished my animation:

Final Animation – Link

I thought I did expression and fast motions in my animation really well, especially the first part when A13X runs into shot. I believe this is because I spent much more time using references and researching for the beginning than the latter parts, however, I think that overall, my animation works really well!

What I think I could have improved upon is that I did not have time to add shading to all of the animation and was only able to shade the first part. The shading made my animation look much more effective; however, the assignment is primary on the motion and movement of the animation, so I am not wholly disappointed.

Shaded Part 1 of Animation:

I would also liked to have edited parts of my animation where I believe the motions or line art is not quite as good as it could be, especially the end of the animation where I believe I could have added more frames to the end to make it more effective. However, I think the end result is still pretty good!

GROUP EVALUATION –

Overall, I believe my group were mostly very cooperative and helpful with each other. It was difficult getting some members to share what they were working on until it was too late, however, we all collaborated well and made a really nice joined animation piece.

It was also very kind of Jodie and Leticia to edit the whole completed group animation together and they did a really great job!

BLOG EVALUATION –

Having completely finished my blog for this semester, I think I had done a good job in recording what I have learnt, created and referenced over the past few months. I think I included everything I needed to and have a done well in recording my own work and progress.

However, I think I could have included more artist and real-life references throughout as well as more examples of artworks that inspire me. I also think I could improve my blog by completing more tasks in order to develop better skills in animating.

I believe the work I have done this semester was very good and I hope to further improve and build upon what I have learned in the next semester!
