Cover letter

This week during our lecture we learned how to write our cover letter. It was helpful to learn how to split it up onto 3 sections:

1st Section:

• why are you applying
• what is the job role
• mention the company and what you know about them

 

2nd Section:

• What do you have to offer
• skills
• experiences

 

3rd section:

• Thank the employer

 

I also learned some basic do’s and don’ts when writing it:

• Dont use superlatives
• Be specific
• Dont be negative
• Dont over design it
• Dont over exaggerate
• Expand on the CV but dont copy it

 

To start the process of writing my cover letter I began by writing our the beginning, 1st section.

 

I then thought more about what I will put into section 2. As I dont have any real world experience in animation or 3D modelling I will write about what I’ve done for my course assignments this year and last year. I have:

• Designed characters
• modelled characters, plants, objects and food
• Uv mapped modeles
• textured models
• worked individually and in a team

 

I then put all this into my draft.

Finally I wrote out the 3rd section which wasn’t too difficult.
