Continued modelling
This week I was focusing on another project but I did make two models, a locket and a voice recorder. Both these are important clues for the story of our game.
I first made the locket. I took a poly sphere and flattened it a bit, then lowered the poly count until it seemed to fit the art style. I then created the rope that goes around the neck. I flattened a poly cube and then kept extruding the top face into the shape of a loose rope. I then UV mapped it and began texturing. I gave the locket a gold material with a scratched and worn out look. I coloured the rope red and gave it a fabric material.
I showed this to the group were it was pointed out to my that the locket should be open to show a picture inside. So I went back and remodelled it. I then took a 2D picture Amiee created and put it in the locket as the photo. below shows the final locket.
Next I made the voice recorder. I did not know what one looked like exactly so went and found a reference image to use. After getting a good idea of what to make I went and used a poly cube as the base, sculpting it to the right shape and bevelling the edges. Below is the model and the reference image.
I UV mapped it and began texturing. I gave it a matte plastic material with a strip of metal around the edge. I also made the screen a dull grey and made it reflective. For the buttons, I just indented the markings and coloured them. Below shows the final look.
