Feedback
This week I finished up my body mechanics animation, meaning I finally had a good draft of each of my animations. This allowed me to send them all off to my tutor for some feedback as some were still not looking the best. After a few days my tutor got back to me and had a number of fixes for me to make, such as :
- Having smaller steps in the walk cycle
- Arch the back more in the walk cycle
- Tweak the push off of the jump in the body mech animation
- Fix the arc of the jump in the body mech
- Change the speed of the arms in the running part of the body mech
- Change the speed of the arms in the run cycle
I then spent the rest of the week correcting my animations.
Body mech
Fixing the body mech animation wasn’t too bad. Firstly I angled the character forward a bit more during the push off of the jump, making the momentum carry forward more. I then fixed the arc of the jump and fall using the motion tracker tool, showing me the path of the body making it easier for me see arc and correct it accordingly. Finally, to fix the the speed of the arms I just changed the offset of them, putting the more in time with the rest of the body. Below shows my new body mech animation.
Run cycle
This animation was easy to fix as I just changed the offset of the arms like I did with the body mech animation. After making these fixes I feel like I finally finished my run cycle. Below shows my finished animation.
Walk cycle
This one was a lot harder to fix and still doesn’t look right so I will continue to work on this next week. I did manage to make the steps smaller and change the shape of the back though. This meant I had to change the swing of the arms to match the smaller steps. Below shows my latest walk cycle.
Next week I plan on working on my body mechanics animation and add cameras to get interesting and dynamic shots.
