Reflection
Looking back on my work I am very pleased with myself and I really enjoyed the whole process. I feel my model turned out very well and I am very glad I chose a penguin as my subject as creating something I am found of really motivated me to work and do the best I can. I feel I gathered plenty of inspiration and reference images at the start and creating various concept drawings helped me narrow down what I wanted my model to look like. Using Blender was still somewhat new to me when I started sculpting my model and I did make a fair number of mistakes. However, through making this model I feel my skills in Blender have greatly improved and now enjoy being able to create my own organic models. Using Maya to retopologies and UV map my model was also challenging at times, especially since I had never done retopology before and I found getting it wrong made UV mapping very difficult. I still feel I could better my skills at retopology as I am still unsure how I would go about doing more complex models but I feel my UV mapping skills have greatly advanced since my first model in assignment 1. Again I found Substance painter easy and fun to use as I was able to play about with the look of my model and see different possibilities for how it could look. Overall I am very happy with how it turned out in the end and I look forward to creating and texturising more models in the future.
