Reflection

Looking back on my work for this project I am very happy with what I’ve done. I feel I contributed a lot to the group and was even able to help my other group members with parts they struggled with. I found creating the appearance and style of the animation using Toon shaders to be particularly enjoyable and I am very pleased with the final look of it all. I did struggle with it a bit at the start but after some playing about with it I managed to get the hang of it. Another part I enjoyed was the actual animating although I feel I did not document my progress enough during this part. I found some parts to be quite simple to animate such as shot 1 and 4 (the transition shot) and they did not take me long to do however shots 2 and 3 were more complicated and took several days to get right. This was mainly due to the more complex movements and the struggle I had with using the blend shape tool. In the end though I feel each shot turned out well and if I had more time I would have liked to add more movement to the character to give him more life. During the pre production stage of the project I feel I was able to come up with a number of good ideas for the character design, background design and overall style of the animation. I also found creating the animatic to be enjoyable as thanks to another member of my group, I was able to base it off their very good storyboard which made the process a lot easier. Overall I have really enjoyed this project and I am pleased with the end result even though sadly it was unable to be fully completed due to unfortunate circumstances.

I have quite enjoyed my first year even though it was very unlike how it should have been. I feel I have come a long way and have learned so much about 2D and 3D animation. I now feel way more confident in 2D animation and I am beginning to enjoy 3D animation more now that I understand it better.
