Assignment 2 Reflection

Reflection

Overall I am quite happy with both my animations and I enjoyed the process of making them. I am especially happy with my second one as I feel it the character really looks scared and I feel his movement is realistic. For the first animation I was looking to create something not too complicated as I was not very skilled at animating in 3D yet. My initial thought was to just show the character jumping straight up however I wanted to do something that showed a little more movement, so I made him jump forward. I found this animation not too difficult to create and I was able to map the movement of the main body and feet fairly easily however at first I moved the feet incorrectly which made the jump look weird as the character was jump on the left foot and also landing on that foot. I had to change them so the character landed on the right foot to make the jump look more organic. After a few minor tweaks to the head to make it tilt more in the air I finally felt the animation looked very good. After finishing this animation I felt I was I bit more skilled at 3D animation so I wanted to attempt something a bit more difficult so I decided to animated the character acting scared. To help show this emotion effectively I placed a wall in the scene and made the character hid behind it, thereby showing the scared emotion effectively. I found this animation a lot more difficult due to the complicated feet movement and steps he takes. I slowly added more and more detail to the movement until I was happy with every small step he takes. After I was happy with each step and the overall movement of the character I began working on the timing of each step and head turn, beginning with slow careful head turns then fast crouching and hiding behind the wall. After creating these animations I feel far more experienced at animating in 3D.
