week 3 – UV Mapping and Wizard staff

UV mapping

 

This week we learned how to UV map objects and apply textures correctly. I found this very confusing at first however after a while I began to understand the process. I believe my UV mapping of the dice turned out well.

 

Wizard staff

To gain more ideas and inspiration for my dragon wizard staff I gathered many images.

 

Aspects from each of these images are appealing to me, such as the idea of having the dragon or its tail wrapping around the main body of the staff. I also like the idea of having the dragons mouth open and possibly having something inside it, like a stone of a crystal. Having the main body be made out of shiny metal or heavily textured wood and it would contrast the dragon’s material. Although a lot of these images inspire me, some of the designs look far too complex and I wish to create something simple and elegant.
