This week I worked on my animatic, a guide for my final animation in timing and movement. I used After Effects for the first time and it didn’t take too long to get used to it. I wanted a cinematic action scene, so the timing should be quick with the movements, but juxtaposed with slow-motion it would feel more epic. The alien’s cape and hair and also the petals on the lion’s mane and tail are the main movements in the slow motion-scene. The lion falls in front of the screen to be a transition to the next animated segment in the group animation. I also used an assortment of sounds to deepen the impact of the epic factor.

Due to the time constraint and amount of work that would be needed for the whole storyboard to be animated, I shortened it to the first 8 seconds.

I utilised this pose for the lion’s leap.
