This week I had to create character designs for the cyberpunk world. I chose a mafia leader and an elite boss. This mood board is what I was thinking when coming up with the mafia leader, dangerous yet stylish. First design is a more regal look including mesh, diamond accessories and fur. The next design is a medusa look, as if she used body modification to have snakes for hair, paired with a snakeskin blazer dress and robotic arm and leg. 3rd design reflects gangster vibes with the trousers and a sleeveless shirt with a fur coat. 4th design has a gold harness over a bra, mini pencil skirt and a large fur coat lined with tiger fur, really flaunting the luxury. The 5th design is a more skin tight, neon lined (supervillain), futuristic type outfit.
6th design is a black frilly dress and gold belt. 7th is a play boy meets gangster look, bullets hanging from one leg and strapped to the thigh high socks. I finished the look with a robotic bunny mask. 8th look is revealing and eye-catching, diamond necklace bra, thigh high boots and a feathery boa. Last design was a sketch from imagination of a full body robotic look.
Orchidea
I put up a mini vote to see which design everyone liked, the 4th one had the most votes so I continued developing it. She has the golden harness and braces, diamond chains hanging from her neon-detailed belt and a masquerade mask to add extra fun to her. I included leather pumps and mini pencil skirt for a little dominatrix effect and the spiky hair continues to hint that she’s a dangerous person. The very attention grabbing fur coat is one of her main design points, the purple and tiger fur showing off her luxury.
Luxial
For the elite boss I needed him to be more serious and business savvy, so I dressed him in a fancy silver patterned blazer with leather on the underside of the sleeves. I wanted him to look more powerful so I have his muscled chest exposed with diamond necklaces. I gave him an robotic part for one side of his head, like a phantom of the opera mask. His beard has trimmed details and his hair has white roots with black ends in a side swept style. He owns a peacock that acts as a messenger and spy (reference of Odin’s ravens) for him as it is connected to the cloud and has access to everything he needs.
Summary of the two characters:
They are 2 bosses, Luxial is an elite boss and Orchidea is a gang/mafia leader. they were childhood friends but with circumstances their paths diverge. in the story they meet again but in opposite sides. Luxial is serious and collected. Orchidea is a loose cannon who is sassy yet elegant. She also really likes fancy clothes and shiny things.
This was a quick design of a cyborg tiger in our world that I sketched in class. I referenced a tiger and added robotic human limbs to it as well as giving it a nice yellow coat to add some movement and form to tie the design together.
