This week was revolving around the concept of animatics and their importance to the production pipeline of an animation and films in general. Animatics are essentially animated storyboards which are made with the intention to figure out the timings of the scenes that will take place in the final animation. the animatics are also sometimes given a soundtrack too along with voice acting to further help with the timing of the scenes and to give an overall look at how the production may look when completed. the animatics do not have to contain complete animations like walk cycles, fully detailed faces, etc. if they are not fully relevant with the outcome of the scene. Using what we were learning in this week’s class we were then tasked with creating animatics for the scenes we have drawn up in our storyboards in our group projects. Each scene should have a minimum run time of seven seconds however it is also possible to go over the minimum run time if needed, this will likely be figured out in this stage in the pipeline. Below is the animatic that I have created for this task:

I included subtitles to represent the words the characters are saying in each scene, however I am not too sure if they will be kept in the final animation as I intend to visually display all the important information through the scene itself with the main character having thought bubbles appear over his head showing what he is thinking. This animatic uses various assets I created from the storyboard I made last week and it follows the storyboard quite closely, however there are things I may remove when revising this storyboard such as the second scene with the tiger shark talking about his dreams as it feels overall irrelevant to the story, and also I may tone down on the panning shots as they come off as too distracting for the viewers.
