This week we changed groups so that we could be introduced to working on new ideas/concepts and get to know others in the class. Myself, Charlie and Charlotte were moved from Group 7 into Group 10, where their world idea was a forest society. In Group 10 we joined up with Ben Hawthorne and Ben McCabe, Ben H kindly guided us through his group’s idea while we updated the other Ben about our new ideas through Discord.
There unfortunately wasn’t a lot of development in Group 10’s idea, they had the concept of a forest society where urban cities had been taken over by nature and mutated large bugs, but we thought there could be more context or reasoning behind the setting. First, we wanted to establish some characters; since this world is a society we thought having two groups in opposition to one another would create a sense of conflict. These two groups ended up being the last surviving humans who are fighting against a moth cult who currently hold world order. These moths and their bug minions all worship the light (bulb?), elders of the moth cult have become blind to it due to overexposure. Loyalty and worthiness in this cult is determined by a bug’s eyes, elders have clouded eyes because of their blindness. The figurehead of this organisation is a giant moth.
Our final whiteboard of ideas at the end of the day:
