I made a collection of models on Sketchfab that have an overall stylised aesthetic, texturing style and model presentation that I would like to try to emulate in this assignment.

I’m thinking of creating a 3D scene that contains both the windmill and well prompts, in addition to other environmental objects. As my initial research I created a few collections that gathers inspiration for the stylised appearance and texture reference, as well as sketchfab models of other 3D scenes. In addition to hard surface modelling, I’d like to try to sculpt some surface details on these models, as it’s something I’ve always wanted to get into but haven’t yet had the time or opportunity. The same with creating multiple models that fit together as one overall scene.

Some particular characteristics of the “stylised” style that I would like to have in my own model:
  • Outline effect??
  • Exaggerated geometry + shape language
  • The use of gradients in textures, high to med bright, saturated colours
  • Sculpted details
  • Textured base plane/or modelled geometry so model exists in a environment as opposed to a void
I think in terms of time constraints, I would like to go for stylised PBR as opposed to handpainted textures.
