Some Halloween themed models:
Potion bottle
Initial Bottle Polycount: 7.1k tris

Uploaded Sketchfab model polycount = 3.7k tris.

Substance Painter Iray Render
Before the competition I asked Michael if he was able to give me some feedback on this model, and this is what he said:
- cork is a little high on the bump/ normal too.
- I’d use 3D bubbles rather than the planes with alphas.
- the way you can see the ring on the base when you look down through it isn’t very nice so see if you can make it not do that. probably just make the liquid more opaque. Unless it’s in a scene where you need to see through it then it’s not helping you to have the liquid a bit see through.
- same comment about the slight inconsistency of poly level. the bottle itself is quite low poly but you have a relatively a lot of polys on the string and the rim of the bottle. I would add some loops to make the curvature at the top and bottom of the bottle a bit smoother to match.
I adjusted the height map for the cork and removed the opacity on the liquid as these were the easiest to change. I would like to use 3D bubbles, but in previous feedback from the Worldskills judges, they wanted me to use textured alphas for details like these, “For future improvement, we can consider using a textured alpha to describe complex and flat shapes – This would have saved you valuable polys as well as survive any lodding process when this topology is removed..”
This week I decided to learn about rendering using Iray in Substance Painter, just in case I might have to render during the final. I learned a lot about it from this video:
Witch Hat (and Frog)
3.1k tris
7.6k tris
Sketchfab Render
Substance Iray Render
Other models (cauldron, ingredient jar)
I didn’t like the outcome of these models as much, particularly the textures on the cauldron.
