WEEK 1
ICEBREAKER!
For our first activity in our 2d animation class, we grouped ourselves together and sent on a mission… to recreate a meme! and a few other things too I guess. these prompts were to photograph;
-
A Colourful Object
-
A weird Shape
-
Animation!
-
Something that looks cool
-
What made you laugh today?
-
Mystery item
-
Pets
-
Something that starts with the letter U
-
Teamwork
-
and the most important one… RECREATE A MEME!
SOMTHING COLOURFUL..
This photo was taken by Becca Jamison!
We found a sign promoting what is only assumed to be for fine arts and production design courses in ulster! we found the colours very abstract in this piece so we decided to use it as an example of something ‘colourful’
A WEIRD SHAPE!
This photo was taken by Becca Jamison!
we found this bizarre thing that somewhat resembles a chair? however seems it be a pretty bad one since there’s no seat to sit. simple the outer frame!
SOMTHING THAT LOOKS COOL!
This photo was taken by Dean McArdle!
We found this class wee wall! the dragon and a fella with a camera for a head is a really interesting combination. id say the scariest thing about the wall though is the BBC. thankfully the dragon is doing gods work by spouting some green smoke at it.
MYSTERY ITEM!
This photo was taken by Becca Jamison!
we found this wonderful mystery! scooby doo and the gang couldn’t figure this one out even if they tried. not only would they have to find the culprits.. but they’d also have to find out what was in that mysterious lone glass. truly a mystery for the ages…
SOMETHING THAT BEGINS WITH U!
This photo was also taken by Becca Jamison!
Here’s a silly wee photo I got my friend to take of myself Infront of ulster, pretty convenient for this task!
RECREATE A MEME!
all three photos were taken by Dean McArdle!
suppose these could also count as teamwork? our first idea was to recreate the spiderman pointing meme however that felt a little unoriginal.. so we decided to also do a ‘mewing’ meme where we stood in line and began the process of mewing. then the last one was just for funsies. :]
EXERCISE IN SHAPE AND FORM – WEEK 1
for our first warm-up assignment, we were instructed to draw lines, circles and ‘S’ shapes. this was to help warm up our drawing wrists before we drew shapes in perspective and their basic forms.we were then asked to take these shapes and add them together to create a ”character” of sorts. i created a little flour sack. this would then lead into our homework task.
30.09.24
THINK OF 100 WORLDS
in class we were put into little groups of five, myself, Dean, Becca, Mia and Callum. we were assigned to think of 100 worlds for a project.
within about five minutes of this task being set we were all immediately fixated on the concept of a apocalyptic winter universe. we came up with characters monsters and lore on why this world was like this. however we were sadly told we had to take five of our worlds and expand those before choosing a final one which sucked as we all liked this winter apocalypse world.
I chose the dream world concept.
callum chose ancient china
becca chose Sci-fi
mia chose modern greek myths
dean took apocalypse.
we had a lot of fun scheming together but we had the idea to take concepts from these worlds we will develop and to add them to the winter apocalypse! we were told to meet up during the weekend to discuss our ideas as a homework and settle on a final one for next weeks presentation!
HOMEWORK – DECIDE 3 FAVOURITE CHARACTERS TO SIMPLIFY INTO SHAPES AND FORM
To begin with, I chose “Glep” from “SMILING FRIENDS.” His body is simple, bean-shaped, and circular. he was overall easiest of my three chosen characters.
I then drew ”Sans” from ”Undertale” as he is one of my favourite characters from the game. His design is a little more complex than Gleps, consisting of circles and squares. i found his design a lot more fun however because of this complexity.
My third character is SIX from LITTLE NIGHTMARES. Six’s character is represented with triangular shapes, which suggests a pointed personality—which is pretty accurate considering her malicious actions in-game. Her design was equally as complicated as sans’s, as it takes two shapes: triangules and rectangles.
