Pitch Bible- WereBound
Ideas
I was incredibly pleased when we were originally given this pitch bible assignment, and I had a tonne of ideas that I could have done. However, when I actually sat down to write them down, I discovered that some of my ideas were either too complex, too many ideas at once or that I simply couldn’t imagine them. After a while, I written out some of the concepts an story ideas I liked and went on to elaborate on them, but the more I considered them, the less interested I became.
I reflected on the early creative stages and my story ideas of developing my webcomic story idea, focusing on the inspirations that shaped my concept. I was particularly drawn to the dynamic storytelling and visual energy found in Korean manhwa, especially their vertical scroll format and emotionally expressive pacing. At the same time, I was fascinated by the stylised, game-influenced animations used in League of Legends, particularly their use of Spine 2D animation for character-driven cinematic moments. These influences sparked my desire to create a webcomic that blends narrative depth with an animated feel — something that feels alive on the page, even without full motion.
I have always been a fan of he supernatural such as witches and the paranormal so i wanted to create a story based on these creatures. I initially wanted the main character to be a sort of werewolf assassin but couldn’t think of a good plotline that suits the characters profession. I later was inspired by the origin story of how witches and werewolves have connection to lycanthropy, where witches can transform into werewolves or other creatures at will, so I thought what if witches became too consumed by the use of their power and turned into werewolves as a curse from he Gods above as a sort of punishment.

In terms of genre, the story is Urban Fantasy, with action, adventure and thriller. For the project itself, I created a prologue to set the tone and feel of the story, like a teaser. But the way it will be shown is in a webcomic format and rigged. Similar to the gacha game Character Spine 2d animation or League of Legends animated splash art.
After coming up with my concept, I made a few mood boards combining pictures from Google, Pinterest, and other manhwa, comics, or games that I thought would work well with spine 2D rigged animation and media.

Research

For this project, I researched how a pitch bible is laid out. There are various ways to show a pitch bible, and I took inspiration from shows such as Batman: The Animated Series and Adventure Time. Since this was a webtoon comic, I also researched how a webcomic is made, including the production pipeline, and tailored it according to my own needs in the project.
In terms of how this project will be animated using After Effects since Spine 2D is too expensive. I looked up videos and tutorials of puppet rigging on YouTube and Instagram, which helped me know where to get started regarding rigging scenes and characters.
Story
Since I knew what type of style and format the project would be in, I went on to break down the information about my story, such as the Setting, the Target audience, the type of genre, etc.
The story has main themes, such as having too much power going unchecked, which may lead to corruption in oneself and those around you. In this case, the main character and his parents are powerful witches who were innocent people and did not abuse their magical powers; however, due to the other witches’ dangerous ambitions, all the witches were cursed to not only prevent a disaster but also act as a warning sign to them. And so good-hearted witches got caught in the crossfire and became cursed.
The logline for the story is as follows:
In a city filled with crumbling despair, rage and chaos, a cursed hunter battles mana-hungry monsters- the WereBeasts-Only- to discover he shares their blood, forcing him to confront his legacy to stop a rising supernatural corruption.
Characters & Concept Art
As I started to develop the characters I wanted to include in this webcomic project, I knew I wanted to offer them a straightforward yet understandable and easy-to puppet rig in After Effects for simple fluid motion. I was heavily inspired by manhwa like “Solo Levling,” the game “Devil May Cry,” and Honkai Starrail character designs.
I wrote a biography for the main character, Lycon, to really understand and flesh out his character as well as the main character, Valdrick Fenrir Elphora. I used Webtoons Character Sheet template as a guide.
Charcter concept
Regarding art style, I am greatly inspired by Mahawa’s clean yet dynamic line work, clean lines, and pronounced colouring. I tried to emulate that by incorporating aspects of that article into my artwork.
For the first concept sketches I did, I asked some people for their opinions of the different designs, basing their decisions on the character’s occupation and role in the story. I wanted to give him a mercenary-for-hire look with street punk aesthetics as he lives in the middle and lower parts of his city district.
So, I went with the last concept and expanded and emphasised his look more and his silhouette . I wanted to add daggers in his holster at the back.
I later narrowed it down and reduced the amount of details of his clothing so its easy to redraw over and over again.

Next was the Main antagonist -Valdrick’s design was inspired by the dark yet light coloured, stylised aristocrat look of League of Legends animations and the emotional intensity of manhwa protagonists. I wanted him to embody strength and a cold heartless apperance as if his is like stone , so I gave him a sharp, angular silhouette with a muted grey colour palette and a single blue bold accent to hint at his cold calculative personality. His design balances visual impact with animation-friendly structure, a good interesting silhouette when animating his coat will have good fluidity of movement. influenced by Spine 2D rigging principles. Overall, Valdrick reflects the story’s tone—controlled on the outside, but deeply torn within.
The Corrupted Werebeast was designed to embody raw aggression mixed with unnatural, almost synthetic energy. I started with a classic werewolf silhouette but exaggerated the limbs and claws for a more monstrous, unstable look. As the design progressed, I introduced glowing neon elements and jagged, crystalline shapes inspired by glitch effects and corrupted data—drawing from cyber-fantasy aesthetics seen in League of Legends skins and manhwa villains. The hot pink accents contrast with the dark body to emphasise its unnatural transformation, while the glowing lines hint at a deeper energy source or curse within. Overall, this creature represents chaos, mutation, and loss of control.

Environments
For environments, I was inspired by Honkai Starrails character splash arts and League of Legends. The backgrounds and their environment can tell a lot about a type of character, and I wanted to do something along those lines when creating the prologue teaser.

Overall I’m pleased with how the backgrounds came out and I feel that the characters fit really well within their environments.
The prologue in a webcomic establishes the narrative’s tone, stakes, and thematic direction. It balances world-building with emotional intrigue, focusing on a pivotal moment of transformation or corruption. Drawing inspiration from manhwa and cinematic storytelling, the prologue introduces the core conflict, a world on the brink, a protagonist with a buried past and an unnatural force. Outlining the prologue early anchors the rest of the story.
When creating the production plan for this project, I did a bit of research into how webcomics I made, which I mentioned earlier, but tailored it to the needs of my project
Pitch Bible Layout.
When creating the pitch deck for this project, I wanted to keep the fantasy element while incorporating some cyberpunk overlay borders and aesthetics and keeping the colouring scheme and vibe of the story as well.
Final Pitch Bible
Developing my pitch bible has been a profoundly creative and challenging process that pushed me to think critically about storytelling, design, and audience engagement. Drawing inspiration from manhwa, League of Legends animations, and narrative theory helped me shape a world and characters that feel visually compelling and emotionally grounded. This project has refined my design and writing skills and deepened my understanding of how to communicate complex ideas through a visual medium. I’m excited to continue developing the story and exploring how it can grow across different formats.
