Week 11

Our group took week 10 to work on the assets, creating new textures and polishing up the remainder of the models before compiling them into one folder that could be shared with the group, however as the buildings and roads are the main part of the city we have made a start on them and created them first.

So starting off, opening unreal and importing the models, I took this week to work on the textures and get a rough layout of the city done so I could have something done for my presentation to show off the city as I have it now.

One of the assets created for the city was an entirely modular building, however, I ended up not using it, as I found it too difficult to use with Unreal engine.

I worked on two layouts to the city, as I wasn’t too sure how I wanted the city to look yet at this point, however, It was good practice to learn how to move pivot points to make the layout a lot easier to manage.

It was at this point I found that the skybox could be edited and choose to experiment by darkening the sky.

I then discovered that the whole skybox color could be changed, giving the sky a red hue that would harken back to the retrowave videos I became inspired by, however, it became very hard to edit in, and I felt as though It was too dark, however, I ended up explaining that I would fix this and pick better colours when I went to render the scene.

To finish up, I made some light assets to give the impression that there were some lamps by the window and then made a small sequence to show off during my presentation.
