For this week, we were starting back into the walking animation after a break to focus on our other course work, as a result of this, our tutor thought it’d be a good idea to get us to do some simple exercises, one of these exercises included posing, it was a simple exercise that allowed us to focus on the simple act of posing a rig, to hopefully get back into the swing of working on rigs.
For my part in the exercise, I decided to use the Jack and Jill rigs to recreate two body intensive poses from the Yakuza games, one being a high kick and the other being a sliding squat.
Recreating these two poses was interesting and gave me a decent insight as to how even the simplest looking poses can be the hardest to recreate, having to constantly adjust the high kick to fit in with the angle of the shot was interesting and explains why the “Iconic” pose is always captured at that angle, as the body model needs to contort and get into awkward looking angles just to look somewhat normal.
As for the other pose, it wasn’t as difficult, however trying to get the legs at that extreme angle still ended up being a bit of a difficulty, especially with the waist.
