With the deadline approaching and with it being the start of December, I wanted to be confident that I could get this project finished as quickly as possible, so I began this week by using a background reference for my walk cycle as I still am not 100 percent happy with it..
However as I used this reference, I actually found that the walk looked a lot better from how it started! And I was fully able to finish off the walk animation with the reference! Whilst I had already filmed myself doing the walk animation, I wanted to be able to exaggerate the movements a bit more, and get more than just a “realistic” walk, which Is why I only used my filmed reference to get the movement and figure out what walk I wanted to do.
After I finished my walk I wanted to add in some smaller details, one of them being the inclusion of finger and wrist movement, as I felt just keeping them both stationary would look too robotic and unnatural.
After which, I began work on the running animation. By starting with setting up the background reference! Instead of going in completely blind with only a small reference. I got the character into a pose and then made it look like the character held her sword…unfortunately, I don’t know any means of attaching the sword to the hand, and I’ll need to roughly estimate with the sword and manually keyframe it in later.
