For week 2 we started modeling, designing a skateboard, children’s pull kart and a Star Wars Tie Fighter
Skateboard
Final rendered image of the skateboard

The process of making the skateboard was challenging as it was my first time using some of the features. This is an early rendered image of the skateboard. I didnt like the lack of detail as I was missing the bolts on the top of the skateboard and the colors were not correct. I changed these aspects for my final render of the skateboard.

Another issue I faced when rendering the skateboard was the lighting and model itself. I had trouble duplicating the skateboard as the axle would separate so I had to fix this for the final render. I also found the amount of shadows especially distracting so I removed some to simplify the image.

–Process Images
The mirror and bevel tool were very hard to get used too and was a huge issue for me during the designing stage. The coloring was a lot more simple and I got used to it very quickly. I used a color wheel to fix my composition. I found the duplication of the wheels hard but eventually figured it out as seen in the process images.
Pull kart
I found the pull kart much easier with the practice I gained from completing the skateboard and decided to use UV Mapping to create building blocks around the composition of the render.

The Tie Fighter
The tie fighter was our homework for week 2.
I created the model using the mirror and solidify modifiers. The mirror modifiers were a struggle for me but I learned how to better use them in this activity. The actual model was enjoyable to make. One I got the hang of it.

I didn’t follow the tutorial exactly as I fell into trouble at this stage when I was unable to scale the object so instead I extruded it manually.

The track was interesting and a good introduction to the circle curve. I got the basic movements figured out including sections where the model rotated.

I wanted to create a space background and did so using a Youtube tutorial I found which helped me understand the shading feature.

It was hard to wrap my head around the shading nodes but I eventually learned how it works.
I was very proud of the final render and I loved how the background and model turned out. I wasn’t very happy with the movement though and struggled a lot with the graph editor.
