This week we did unwrapping and UV Mapping practicing with a hammer, dice, coke can then a sword!

The Dice

Starting with the dice. The process for the dice was simple and a good introduction to UV wrapping.

The Can

The can was pretty easy, to get extra practice I also created a fanta can for the final image render

The Hammer

The hammer was slightly harder to create because it introduced seam marking but it was good practice and was very beneficial when it came to creating my sword. I added a sky background for my final render.

Sword

For my sword design I wanted it to have a nature theme with a handle resembling deer antlers. The model uses a variety of shapes. The base started as a sphere I extruded, the antlers and the blade are planes I mirrored to create the shape. I Designed the handle using the cut tool and then divided it out so each polygon had 4 sides. I did this on the blade also trying to minimize the triangles. I unwrapped the model and imported it into Krita to begin texturing! One issue I came across was the seam creation and UV unwrapping. It was hard to invasion where the seams should be and it took a lot of trial and error to finalize it.

I got a basic gold, stone and leather texture online and added it to my UV texture.

Final Render

The final render was done using planes that I extruded and textured using a stone texture. I added colored lighting.
