Once I decided my layout and shot angle for my poster, I decided to create some drafts that i could send away for some feedback – this way I will be able to see any details that I could change to help improve the overall quality of my Poster design. I created two initial drafts which I made using Procreate. i decided to use procreate as i am more comfortable and familiar with it as opposed to photoshop, luckily the direction I wanted to go in for my poster can be done in both softwares.
I changed my font in this poster, as I wasn’t happy with my previous fonts – I wanted something that showed the concept of fear a lot more, during a call with Henry we found some really cool fonts surrounding this concept. The font i decided to go with is called ‘Nyctophobia’ and I think this is the best choice for what I am trying to communicate within my poster.

Draft 01
Draft 02
Currently I am swaying towards draft 01, as I feel it is the most visually pleasing – I added some leaks and a grunge texture over the top of my poster as before I felt it was a bit too clean. This thought process, again brings me to the concept of fear and being pushed out of a safe zone as the noise over almost creates a messy feel to the poster. In draft 02 I altered the letter L to look red, my thought process towards doing so was to symbolise a blood dripping effect as blood can be seen on the table in my poster.
Likes
I really love the progression of my Poster, I finally believe it is starting to represent the emotions that surround my major project – Furthermore, the change of font has really elevated my poster and i believe it added a lot to the concept. In comparison to my previous poster such as:
I really felt this didn’t communicate the message I was trying to display, this reiterates the importance and significance of a font and how it can change the entire message fo something.
Dislikes
In terms of my dislikes for my poster, I believe it is far too dark and lacking in depth, as currently it feels very cluttered and almost dirty which isn’t what I am trying to achieve.
Feedback
I received some feedback from Henry to change some things for poster such a:
- Avoid colouring the letter L in red as it is hard to read and doesn’t make much sense.
- Brighting draft 01 as it is a bit too dim
- Adjust the bumping on the wall as it is too big
- tone down the lights as it washes out the guitar
i will work on these corrections and begin improving my poster.
