I really enjoyed the process of the personal project, I loved the fact that we were given the choice to anything we felt for this assignment. Personally, I really enjoy completing maya assets and exporting them into substance and then finally into Unreal to build up your scene as it is extremely awarding once the final project is complete and the hard work is displayed so nicely. I have seen some improvement in my abilities in unreal from semester one and have taken note of any feedback from previous projects that Alec would have given me. Furthermore, this is one of the many reason I choose to do this type of project for my assignment.
I really enjoyed completing this assignment as it allowed my imagination to run wild, with horror games there is a lot of details that can be added to really add scary or eerie vibe to the scene which was super enjoyable for the final outcome. When I begun my project, it started extremely basic and found the benefits of decals to add details and helped me improve my skill in Unreal which will help as i noticed a lot of gaming companies wanted Unreal Engine as a skill. I also learnt some new skill such as flickering lights and emissive lighting which added some great detail to the scene and this is definitely something I am going to keep practicing with for another project in the future.
However, there are definitely some tings I need to improve on as I found the videoing aspect quite challenging and lighting aspects in Unreal, however this is something I am going to keep practicing with in the future with some advice from Alec.
