Using the image Charlotte sent us of the dresses in the museum, We all as a group decided to pick a dress to model and animate in marvellous.

Here is the dress I decided to go for in the finale, I really loved the look of this dress and the colours, so I wanted to challenge myself by attempting to recreate this in Marvellous Designer. I firstly created a sketch of the dress in procreate to get a proper idea of the pattern that I was recreating.

This allowed me to see the zigzag design that runs across the bottom of the dress and the glitter that is displayed across the chest of the dress, so with this in my mind I started to take it into marvellous to try it out.

Issues

The first issue I ran into with creating the dresses mixed patter, I struggled to get the bottom half stripes and the upper part all the glitter. This cause a bit of problem when making the dress as i had to adjust the dress to have it this desired design.

DRESS 01

This was my first attempt at creating the dress, however the pattern kept messing up so, I had to adjust the dress into a skirt and top and attach the two seams to get the dress to suit the pattern I had created.

DRESS 02

Here is a plain screenshot of the final dress I created for the museum scene before adding the texture I created using Procreate.

Using marvellous it allowed me to adjust the pattern on the dress to look like picture charlotte had given us of the dress in the museum. as when I first applied the texture it didnt seem to look quite right on the the skirt and the ‘zig-zag’ look was going in a rounded shape.

After a few adjustment, I finally got the dress looking how I imaged it to look.

I decided then to add some gloves to the dress for animating the hand movement to give the singing impression, IĀ  was happy with the final result and will definitely be using Marvellous Designer again in the future.
