Get Involved: Join the 2025 Sustainable Development Goals Teach In at Ulster University
At Ulster University, we’re proud to be at the forefront of embedding sustainability into education, and we need your help to make an even greater impact. From 1–31 March 2025, Ulster University will once again participate in the annual Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Teach In, a global campaign led by Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS-UK).
This initiative is more than just an event; it’s a movement to put the UN Sustainable Development Goals at the heart of education. By taking part, you’ll be contributing to a brighter, more sustainable future—not just for our students, but for the planet.
Why Participate?
The SDGs are a blueprint for addressing the world’s most pressing challenges, from climate change and inequality to quality education and responsible consumption. By incorporating the SDGs into your teaching or learning support sessions, you’re helping students understand their role in creating a sustainable future.
This isn’t just about theory—it’s about action. When students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to tackle sustainability challenges, they become empowered to drive real change. And it all starts with you.
How to Get Involved
Taking part is simple:
- Take the Pledge: Visit the SOS-UK website (https://www.sos-uk.org) and complete the short online pledge form.
- Commit to Action: Pledge to include a brief overview of the SDGs in at least one teaching or learning support session during March 2025.
- Inspire Change: Share your passion for sustainability with your students and encourage them to think critically about how they can contribute to the SDGs.
As Dr Amanda Platt, Education for Sustainable Development Lead and Chair of the UU Responsible Futures Working Group, says:
Ulster University’s recent success in achieving SOS-UK Responsible Futures Accreditation demonstrates our collective progress and ongoing commitment to embedding sustainability across the student experience. The annual SDG Teach In is a key initiative, and we encourage all Ulster educators to take part.
Why Your Participation Matters
Ulster University has been a proud participant in the SDG Teach In since 2019, and our involvement has only grown stronger. By joining this initiative, you’re not just supporting a campaign—you’re helping to shape a culture of sustainability at Ulster and beyond.
Your participation also aligns with our broader commitment to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), which ensures that sustainability is woven into every aspect of the student experience. Together, we can inspire the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
