We’re Leading the Way in Sustainability SOS

One thing is clear Education for Sustainable development is no longer just a nice idea—it’s vitally important.   Ulster University, are working hard to make things better. We’re part of a project called “Students Organising for Sustainability” (SOS).  We’re doing well in this project against our UK competition, but we want to do even better!  We’re trying to beat other Business Schools, including Barnsley College and Gateshead College who are currently ahead of us on the leaderboard.  We encourage you to pledge your support for the SDG Teach and our progress. You can stay updated on our progress by following Marc on Twitter: @drmarcduffy.

We don’t just talk about sustainability; we make sure it’s a part of everything we do.  We teach our students about it through programmes like the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). We recently had our 7th Annual SDG Teach-In, where we showed how important things like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are in our teaching. And from 2024 every module guide we give out has links to the SDGs, so everyone knows how important they are.

But we’re not done yet! Even though we’re doing pretty well in the SOS project, we want to do even better.  We want to be at the top of the leaderboard, but we need your help to get there. You can show your support for sustainability by pledging to do your part on the SOS website (https://www.sos-uk.org/). Together, we can make Ulster University the best at being green!

Being part of SOS isn’t just about winning a contest; it’s about making a real change. We want to create a culture where caring for the environment is just what we do. By joining in with projects like SOS, we’re not just teaching students; we’re creating a whole generation of people who care about the planet.

So, come on board! Pledge your support and Follow Marc Duffy on Twitter, let’s work together to make our world a better place. Ulster University is leading the way, but we know there’s still a long journey ahead. Let’s take that journey together and make a difference for our planet!
