I have been placed in a group consisting of myself and four other people for our ‘create a world’ brief. My team members are Aveen Fitzpatrick, Mark Smith, Finn McLoughlin and Daniel ‘Dan’ Kirk. During last week’s class, we brainstormed possible concepts for our fictional world. At first it was difficult to contribute in a group of people we barely knew, but once we got talking, we actually came up with several creative ideas, such as;
A world where animals act like people (anthropomorphism)
A world where politicians are food
A world where people’s hair grows as flowers
A world where snails provide emergency services
A world where everyone has a superpower
During our discussion, Mark made a list of our ideas along with some conceptual pen sketches;
Eventually, we narrowed down our ideas into five of our favourites;
- A world where the planets of the solar system compete in the Space Olympics
- A world where wizards duel in the backstreet alleys
- A world where cavemen live in high society
- A world made of scrap and recycling
- A world where people’s hair grows like flowers
When it came to selecting a fifth favourite, we found it more difficult to choose from our ideas because we just kept expanding on our existing favourites! This week, my group and I will be meeting up to discuss what our world might look like and what kind of atmosphere it will have, as well as drawing up some prototype character designs.
