S2 Week 2; Modelling

This week in class we followed a demonstration on how to make a milkshake, which introduced us to new tools, such as extrude, bevel, multi-cut and soft selection. Admittedly, it was hard to keep up with at the start but I’ve found that taking note of each function as it’s performed is a good way to keep up with the process, and it helps me to remember how to perform certain functions when it comes to modelling on my own. I really enjoyed this exercise as it gave me more confidence in 3D modelling, confidence which I had lost after attempting the cactus tutorial the previous week, and it felt quite rewarding to see the finished model coming to fruition after starting out as just a polygon primitive;

I was also pleased that I was able to alter the transparency of the textures to give the milkshake container the appearance of transparency. As well as this, I learned how to use a sweep mesh to make the straw, and from there I was able to use multi-cut and extrude to create the folds at the bend of the straw;
