Morning Class:

During this morning’s class we watched Michael’s lecture about art styles and the pipeline involved on creating and keeping to the art style. It showed examples of style guides, what each member of a team does and that there is an infinite amount of possibilities when it comes to choosing an art style for a project.

We were then tasked with completing an exercise based on art styles.

—Exercise—

Research an art style/feeling that you want to create then download the file, pick a tree and texture it based off of the style that you researched.

Q1. What kind of emotional response is the style trying to convey?

A1. The feeling that I am going to try to achieve is creepy or eerie. The tree’s jagged, asymmetrical sculpt already lends itself to the eerie theme.

Q2. Are there any clear rules that define the art style I’m going for?

Colour = Dark colours like blacks, browns, dark greens and purples.

Shape = An asymmetrical shape with straight, jagged points.

Lines = Plenty of lines and texture to create a Claymation look.

Afternoon Class:

Left to work on assets for our assignment. Henry went round giving feedback and asking on the group’s progress.
