Empathy and Site Map
In order to design my healthcare app to be designed for real people, I need to gain an understanding of the users, and how I can make the app be as easy to move through as possible. For this reason, I must start the planning process by making an empathy map, site map, and a user flow diagram.
Empathy Map
Creating an empathy map is a really good way to form a deeper understanding of my users. It includes some information about what a potential user might say, think, feel, or do if they have IBS and haven’t yet gotten any professional help.
In order to create a digital product that successfully satisfies the needs of the user, and answers the design question – I will need this full understanding of the users that you’re making the product for.

Site Map
Making a site map allows me to view how my app will be navigated, all in one place. This way, I can check to make sure that everything will run smoothly and be easy to move through before I start designing it. It’ll also allow me to check if there is anything else that I might need, as well as anything that might not be entirely necessary.

Thoughts:
Now that I have a solid understanding of my users, as well as laid some solid foundations for how my app will be navigated, I feel a lot more confident with going forward with the design.
I still need to make a user flow diagram in order to properly understand what kind of process the users will go through whilst using the app. I also need to consider what kind of decisions they may make along the way, and how I can make the whole experience a lot easier.
I look forward to finishing the planning stage of my project, and move on to designing my healthcare product.
