Conducting Competitor Analysis
After conducting my user research, I decided to move on to some competitor analysis.
I want my app to be an educational game that makes it fun for the children to learn about the periodic table. With this in mind, I took to the app-store to find some chemistry games that may already be available for children.
Here are the apps I found:
Periodic Table Quiz:
My first thoughts about this game was that it was a little too advanced for my age group. I do like the idea that once you get questions about an element correct, it will show up on the periodic table and be tappable to view more information about it. I also really like the vast colour palette because this makes the game more enjoyable to children.
Periodic Table Battle:
This game didn’t include too much information to learn from. Most of it was guessing the element shown – but you didn’t learn much about it once you got it right. I liked the idea behind it, and the cute illustrations, but all in all, I want my app to be more educational than the likes of this.
Mr. Material:
This game seemed quite fun, and was fairly easy to navigate. It had good illustrations and a fitting colour palette – although I think for kids, it’s more interesting to include more colour.
