WEEK 3
This week I remained in the group I was in on the first week, and instead had to say goodbye to 2 group members and welcome 2 new ones, and catch them up on what we had so far.
After this lecture we were tasked with adding tone to our worlds, and bringing some scenes past simply the basic shape stage, and into how the world will look when more life is given to it. We were tasked to do 6 tonal thumbnails of how our world would look, and shade them appropriately. After we had our 6 thumbnails, we were asked to render one of them into a more finished tonal study.
Out of the 6 thumbnails, my favourites are 1, 3 and 6. I like the composition on them and I also think I captured a wide range of tones and values. To render the one to do on a bigger scale, I rendered the sketch I did on the thumbnails, since I was worried lining it would make it more stiff and take away some of the more natural looking lines I created within the sketch. I’m very happy with how it comes out but there are a few perspective issues I took notice of.
This week I didn’t do very much concept art except for creating another character pass, instead I focused with my group on coming up with a much more solid idea for a story and how the worlds people interacted with each other and why, and narrowing down the type of creatures and environment the characters would have in their world.
