The first thing we did in class for week 2 was model a skateboard, which helped me get adjusted to blender after my misadventures with the snowman. I had a much better time modelling the skateboard and even adding some primitive textures to it for my renders. Beveling has quickly become one of my favourite things to do, ever. By the end of this, I was already much more comfortable with using Blender and was starting to enjoy it rather than finding it exhausting and distressing.
We learned about linking objects, copying modifiers, and using curves when animating with this week’s homework: modelling a Tie Interceptor from Star Wars. By this point, I’ve gotten quite used to modelling boxy and inorganic objects, so I found this process a lot more straightforward. The animation was also quite simple and I got the hang of using curves quickly, so I’m very happy with how it turned out.
