Assignment 3: Group Project Reflection

Project Reflection

Although I found the process quite hard and stressful, seeing the final project is very rewarding. 3D animation is very technical and I found that I was often stuck or confused with what I was doing, and had to often ask for help, but nevertheless I’m very proud of myself for finishing it! I thoroughly enjoy animating with 3D rigs, and I’m very excited to use the summer months off to try understand the process at least a little better. Seeing my final sequence render I know there are many mistakes and issues, and if I could I would go back and fix some of these things up (adding more animation, the edges thickening, the flower bloom jumping, and the rain sitting on top of the puddle) but I am happy with the final animation anyway. As well as learning new skills in animation, I also learned a bit of simple video editing since I edited the final animation together. I like working in groups as well, and I feel like my group did try to split the workload equally enough, and everyone was very helpful, responsive and positive!

First Year Experience

My first year completely flew in, and even though I’ve stressed over projects, had to get a few deadline extensions, got lost using 3D software and was behind on lessons, I’ve loved the first year. I’ve found something in 3D animation that I’m genuinely interested in and excited to continue doing, even if everything is still new to me. Even the theory lessons, essays and analysis interested and excited me, I’m very glad I took this course! All of the videos provided by lecturers are also very useful and helpful, easy to follow along with and I can easily learn with these lessons. I will definitely be practising my 3D animation and modelling skills over the summer in preparation for second year. This course has helped me realise the work put into animation, and how important seemingly simple things are (like composition, design, backgrounds), and how to do it all.
